A step aerobics workout is a musically choreographed activity of moving up and down on an aerobic step bench. New moves on a step aerobics workout now involves forward and backwards as well as side to side movements while stepping on the equipment. Range of movements take in the form simple stepping on and stepping down the platform to some more complicated moves of turning and thumping of feet thereon. Also, a person can increase the haste of his steps depending on his level of fitness and proficiency in step bench use.
To avoid straining of muscles in a step aerobic exercise, one must firmly position either foot on the surface and back to the base floor which he lunges his body back and forth. One must maintain a level of “heads up” and the posture of the body must be as straight and solid as possible to avoid back injury.
There are so many safety measures that must be observed in a step aerobics workout. Like regular fitness activities, you must ensure the routines are executed properly. One must make sure that the sole of a foot softly steps onto the platform properly and must be close to the platform while stepping up. To avoid knee injury, legs must step up alternately and inconsecutively.
Furthermore, observance of level of proficiency must be observed as it will determine the height of aerobic step bench that will be used. This height may increase to one-foot from base to step bench’s platform depending on the level of experience.
